Meta has launched Muse, a personal AI agent that can help people plan and book travel. Meta has also announced plans to bring Muse to its AI glasses in the coming months. Together, these developments point to a new way travellers may discover and arrange things to do. (about.fb.com, about.fb.com)

Imagine a visitor in Kuala Lumpur saying:
“I have one free afternoon. Find me an authentic Malaysian experience near my hotel, suitable for my children, and help me book it.”
The visitor has not named a travel company, opened a directory or searched for a tour package. They have described what they want and asked an agent to do the work.
That could change the first point of contact in inbound tourism. The question for an operator is no longer only, “Can tourists find my website?” It is also, “Can an AI agent understand what I offer and help a tourist take the next step?”
This is an emerging opportunity, not a claim that Muse already recommends or books every local experience in Malaysia. Meta says an Expedia connection is coming, while Muse’s arrival on AI glasses is still ahead. (about.fb.com)
What should Malaysian tourism players do?
1. Sell an experience people can picture. “Cook nasi kerabu with Kak Rom in Kuching” is more compelling and specific than “Kuching packages available.”
2. Answer the questions a traveller would ask. Who is it for? Where does it start? How long does it take? What does it cost? Is it available this weekend? Publish the answers clearly and keep them current.
3. Make it bookable. Give each experience its own page with a clear way to check availability, book or contact the operator. A promising recommendation is wasted if the visitor reaches a dead end.
4. Give people a reason to choose you. AI can compare options. Your local knowledge, host, story and hospitality make the experience worth choosing.
My view is simple: the next inbound customer may arrive through a conversation with AI before they ever visit your website. Let us make sure Malaysia’s local experiences are ready to be discovered—and ready to welcome them.
